ICA World Cooperative Congress & ICAO General Meeting

Under the theme “Deepening Our Cooperative Identity”, the 33rd World Cooperative Congress was organized by the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA). Within the framework of the 33rd World Cooperative Congress, International Cooperative Agricultural Organisation (ICAO), one of the eight sectoral organizations under the ICA, held a hybrid General Meeting on 30 November 2021.
The ICA organized 33rd World Cooperative Congress in Seoul, the Republic of Korea and online from 1 to 3 December 2021. The theme for the Congress was “Deepening our Cooperative Identity”. The Congress aimed to deepen the cooperative identity by examining its values, strengthening its actions, committing to its principles, and living its achievements. These four themes were addressed through a range of plenaries and parallel sessions designed to highlight the cooperative difference.
As a pre-congress event, ICAO General Meeting was conducted both physically and virtually on 30 November 2021. A report on the activities of ICAO was presented at the meeting. Members from different continents gave information about the ICAO projects carried out in their regions. Referring to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ICAO initiated “Agri-Coop Brand Development Project” in Mongolia and “Agricultural Input and Output Market Development Project” in Uganda. In this context, 3 reports were published in Americas while a survey “Commitment of Cooperatives to Reduce Food Waste” was conducted in Europe.
