WHO WE ARE
The main purpose of the ICA, which was founded in 1895 in London, is to strengthen and develop autonomous cooperatives worldwide, as well as to contribute to the development of cooperatives by providing mutual assistance and solidarity among cooperatives, to gather information and disseminate knowhow as well as to promote, spread and defend cooperatives internationally.
The ICA, which is located in Brussels, Belgium, has more than 300 members from 109 countries and Agricultural Credit Cooperatives of Turkey has been a member since 1987.
The ICA has regional organizations in America, Africa, Asia-Pacific and Europe. Agricultural Credit Cooperatives is a member of Cooperatives Europe and ICAO, the regional and sectoral organizations of ICA respectively.
The ICA, which includes various sectors from agriculture to housing cooperatives, represents over 700 million people and plays a major role in promoting cooperatives all around the world.
